Mary Nugent
Saturday January 25 @ 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM
Tipperary born singer/songwriter Mary Nugent, accompanied by members from her band The Cedartowns, will begin the Spring/Summer Season for The Richmond Revival this January 2025.
Mary is a co-founder of The Cedartowns, who were formed in 2013 along with her sister Michele Nugent, Tom Kenna, Andrew Kennedy, Seamus Hayes and Brendan Hunter. The Cedartowns blend influences of blues, folk and pop sensibilities into a distinct and exciting new sound.
For her performance at The Richmond Revival, Mary will be joined by her sister Michele — who is the vocal harmonist for the group, guitarist Seamus Hayes — who brings a rich guitar knowledge to the table with years of performing and playing in rock and blues bands, and bassist Andrew Kennedy — who brings a fountain of experience, having written and recorded with the hugely successful Royseven and Blancatransfer.
The quartet will be showcasing their newly composed songs along with favourites from their back catalogue.
Mary herself has collaborated with many great performers such as Luka Bloom, Freddie White, Maria Doyle-Kennedy, Ron Sexsmith, Jack L, Anuna and Ultan Conlon. The Cedartowns have played at numerous venues throughout Ireland including Ballykeeffe Amphitheatre, Cleere’s Theatre, Kilkenny and The Sugar Club, Dublin. They have also played for the Cashel Arts Festival, Clonmel Junction Arts Festival and When Next We Meet alternative Irish music.
