SUMMARY:Conni Dawson\, The Street Harpist and Traditional Irish Storyteller — Mid-Week Sessions
DESCRIPTION:RESERVE YOUR PLACE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA MID-WEEK SESSIONS SERIES CONCERT \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Street Harpist\, Conni Dawson\, joins The Richmond Revival this July for a very special mid-summer event. Conni has been a professional musician and performer for over a decade\, who has travelled the length and breath of the country investigating the origin locations of traditional music through her 2019 tour Around Ireland in 80 Tunes. \n\n\n\n\n\nHer latest exploration into the roots and heritage of ethnic Ireland comes in the form of Irish Storyteller\, inspired by the old tradition of the seanchaí. Conni served her apprenticeship into this world with Irish storytelling duo Candlelit Tales. \n\n\n\nBorn in Fermanagh and raised in Co. Clare\, Conni has always felt a deep connection with the whole island of Ireland and through her works has sought to highlight our shared history\, heritage\, and the sense of community and connection we create through art and music. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nStorylines Tour 2025\n\n\n\nThis year\, Conni is taking her storytelling accompanied by the harp\, around Ireland through her tour Storylines. \n\n\n\nStorylines brings traditional Irish myths and folktales home and encourages people to look at their landscapes with a new appreciation for the heritage and history embedded in the rocks and streams and trees around us. From the fate of the goddess Cliodhna in Glandore Harbour\, to the love life of the Tuatha de Danann in the Galtee mountains\, these stories will open your eyes to the magic and myth all around you \n\n\n\n\nWebsite\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYoutube\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRESERVE YOUR PLACE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA MID-WEEK SESSIONS SERIES CONCERT \n\n\n\nDoors open 7pm — Gig starts 8pm \n\n\n\nPlease note: this event takes place on a Wednesday. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe only other thing we request/ recommend from you guys is that you pre-book your ticket online (which carries a €1 booking fee). This is because\, we’re a small venue with capacity for only a certain number of people. It makes everything a lot more straight forward if we know how many people to expect in advance and means we can manage people turning up on the night without creating hassle for anyone in the event we end up having more people than we can accommodate. If that happens\, the people who have committed to pre-booking will be given priority. So if you don’t mind\, we’d appreciate it if you could pre-book. \n\n\n\nCancellations & Refunds: Refunds are not available for this event. \n\n\n\nPlease Note: The venue operates a pop up café which offers a range of liquid refreshments in exchange for CASH ONLY on the night. The Richmond Revival is in the centre of Fermoy\, easily accessible via Bus Éireann. There are also a number of ACCOMMODATION options available onsite. The result is a fresh blend of freewheeling instrumentals\, furious jigs\, and primal rhythms that transcend the traditional boundaries of Irish music.  \n\n\n\nKíla have worked extensively in TV and film. In 2020 they won the IFTA for Best Original Score for the soundtrack or Arracht (TG4). Their most notable collaborations have been with French composer Bruno Coulais on the soundtracks for Cartoon Saloon’s three Oscar-nominated animated films The Secret of Kells (2010)\, Song of the Sea (2014)\, and most recently for Wolfwalkers (2020). \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYoutube\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWebsite\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCancellations & Refunds: A minimum of 7 days notice ahead of the event date is required for refund requests. DESCRIPTION:RESERVE YOUR PLACE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA MID-WEEK SESSIONS series concert \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAnd…another one we’re excited to announce. Carsie Blanton will joining us this April\, and her concert will be the 2nd installment of our new series of concerts called The Mid-Week Sessions \n\n\n\nThe Mid-Week Sessions is a small\, select series of concerts that will be donation based rather than having a ticket cover charged. And as the name implies\, they’ll be mid-week evening events. \n\n\n\nHow it works\n\n\n\nOn the night\, we will be ‘passing a hat’ and you can contribute what you think is fair and can afford. This is something we’re trying out and we will need to see if it is viable. If it proves that it works\, then we aim to hold a limited number of concerts throughout the year for this series to start with\, and hopefully it’s something we can develop thereafter. \n\n\n\nPlease bear in mind\, the artists who will be participating in this series\, they are established niche audience people and we hope that donations will at the very least cover their costs for coming to The Richmond Revival\, and at best\, that there’ll be enough good will from the audience such that their time and effort will be reflected through the donations also. \n\n\n\nThe only other thing we request/ recommend from you guys is that you pre-book your ticket online (which carries a €1 booking fee). \n\n\n\n\n\nCarsie Blanton\n\n\n\nCarsie Blanton is a singer/songwriter with hooks\, chutzpah\, and revolutionary optimism.“It is possible to face the world as it is – rapidly heating\, ruled by grifters\, ravaged by profitable wars – and still have hope\,” she says of her newest release\, After the Revolution. “Not the narrow\, grasping hope you might hang on an election or a billionaire\, but a patient\, zoomed-out hope.” \n\n\n\n“Protest music tends to be strident or self-righteous or just bluntly angry. But Blanton\, a folk singer with a rock attitude\, knows how to construct songs with real melodies and storylines that don’t obscure her messages.” NPR’s Fresh Air\n\n\n\nWith her unique mix of humor\, craft\, and social critique\, Blanton has amassed a small menagerie of viral hits (Rich People\, Shit List\, Fishin’ With You). In addition to 15 years on the road with her band\, Blanton volunteers as a political organiser\, and was recently published in The Nation. \n\n\n\nHer latest full-length album After the Revolution\, produced by Grammy-winner Tyler Chester\, came out on March 21st. In summer of 2024\, Blanton began releasing her most viral political songs on a new EP\, The Red Album Vol. 1. which you can check out here \n\n\n\n\nYoutube\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRESERVE YOUR PLACE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA MID-WEEK SESSIONS SERIES CONCERT \n\n\n\nDoors open 7pm — Gig starts 8pm \n\n\n\nPlease note: this event takes place on a Tuesday. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nCancellations & Refunds: A minimum of 7 days notice ahead of the event date is required for refund requests. SUMMARY:Tom Barry
DESCRIPTION:BOOK TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Richmond Revival is delighted to announce the musical alchemist Tom Barry who will be returning to the place of his youth this April. \n\n\n\nBorn to a single mother and experiencing orphanage life as an infant\, Tom was adopted and raised in Tipperary. Music has always played a significant role in Tom’s life and became his refuge and his strength during his adolescent years and teens…a sanctuary from difficulties of life. \n\n\n\nTom is a past pupil of St Colmans College\, Fermoy\, where he boarded for 5 years. He joined the Defence Forces from St Colmans. As a cadet\, he trained in the Curragh Camp and was commissioned to border duty in Monaghan and Cavan pre-ceasefire as a young Lieutenant. Border duty was search and clearance and patrolling of border crossings until ceasefire was finally put in place in 1998. \n\n\n\nA Rock & Roll Soldier\n\n\n\nWhile serving in the forces\, he studied Civil Engineering in NUI Galway (then UCG) and went on to become a Commandant in the Engineering Corp. \n\n\n\nHe served in the army for 23 years\, part of that time in such countries as Liberia\, Kosovo\, and Afghanistan. In Afghanistan he was stationed in NATO HQ – his work included bridge building\, Humanitarian work\, camp maintenance and search/clearance of deadly mines. \n\n\n\nTom was a ‘rock and roll soldier’ and always found solace and inner peace in playing music\, once again providing a sanctuary.   \n\n\n\nInner Gold\n\n\n\nThese days he uses his music to articulate his struggles with mental health\, turning his music making into ‘inner gold’. This ‘inner gold’ is the conduit through which he reaches his audience. And this is evidenced in his highly acclaimed album ‘Lighthouse’\, released in 2022\, which Hotpress magazine rated as ‘an excellent record’. \n\n\n\nThis was followed by two single releases in 2024. ‘Like Share Scroll On’ is his commentary on the use of phones and our reaction to warnings of climate change…we like\, share\, and then scroll on. The second and current single ‘Passing of Time’ is a reflection triggered by memories of different stages in his life. \n\n\n\nTickets €16.50 (inclusive of booking fee) — Doors open 7pm — Gig starts 8pm \n\n\n\n\nBOOK TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBandcamp\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCancellations & Refunds: A minimum of 7 days notice ahead of the event date is required for refund requests. SUMMARY:Claude Bourbon — A Mid-Week Sessions Series Concert
DESCRIPTION:Claude Bourbon \n\n\n\nThursday April 4 @ 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM\n\n\n\n\nRESERVE YOUR PLACE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA MID-WEEK SESSIONS SERIES CONCERT \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIntroducing our new MID-WEEK SESSIONS SERIES CONCERTS. \n\n\n\nWe’re delighted to announce\, Claude Bourbon is helping us launch the first concert of our new series THE MID-WEEK SESSIONS. \n\n\n\nThe Mid-Week Sessions is a small\, select series of concerts that will be donation based rather than having a ticket cover charged. And as the name implies\, they’ll be mid-week evening events. \n\n\n\nHow it works\n\n\n\nOn the night\, we will be ‘passing a hat’ and you can contribute what you think is fair and can afford. Claude’s style is summed up as progressive blues\, but the reality is\, you’ll hear a stunning acoustic fusion of blues\, jazz\, folk\, classical and Spanish guitar. \n\n\n\nHe moves from a classical opening with almost courteous music across the continent to the blues of the Mississippi Delta\, from the Balearic Islands to the Balkans\, and then back to the United States. Spanish blues evolve into Gypsy music\, which travels to Eastern Europe\, with a splash of Paco de Lucia\, then a touch of Delta tunes and more. Influences from Richie Blackmore\, Joaquin Rodrigo\, JJ Cale and even J. S. Bach speaks for themselves. Claude has impeccable timing and does things on six strings that will blow your mind. \n\n\n\nMr. Bourbon’s guitar fingering and arrangements are varied and eloquent.  He has the gift of brilliant sequencing and the result is a hypnotic voyage along a river of songs and instrumentals. He seamlessly flows between English and French lyrics\, taking you on a journey to other dimensions. \n\n\n\n\n“ Claude Bourbon aptly describes himself as a musical artist.  He uses a vast array of music tools to paint a landscape we have all visited either in person or in our dreams.” Mary Pat Cooney\, FolkWorks\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYoutube\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nRESERVE YOUR PLACE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA MID-WEEK SESSIONS SERIES CONCERT \n\n\n\nDoors open 7pm — Gig starts 8pm \n\n\n\nPlease note: this event takes place on a Thursday. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCancellations & Refunds: A minimum of 7 days notice ahead of the event date is required for refund requests. SUMMARY:Willy Mason and The Alpha Gals
DESCRIPTION:BOOK TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis November\, American singer/songwriters Willy Mason and The Alpha Gals will be joining us at The Richmond Revival. \n\n\n\nWilly is embarking on a small Irish tour ahead of his new album launch in 2025 and we are one of only a very few venues who have been blessed to have this trio perform. So while we can’t claim an exclusive\, it’s not far from it. \n\n\n\nAn Americana Trio\n\n\n\nHailing from Martha’s Vineyard\, Massachusetts\, Lexie Roth and Willy Mason have been singing together for decades. Jessie Pinnick entered the scene last year\, and The Alpha Gals were formed. With a mix of covers and originals from all three songwriters\, their sound is a blend of new and old classic Americana music with a hint of Bluegrass. In other words\, expect amazing music\, gut wrenching guitar\, and heavenly harmonies. \n\n\n\nLyrics from the soul\n\n\n\nIt’s been said that as a songwriter\, Willy Mason’s style has become harder to define as the years go on. Often outside of time musically\, his lyrics always come from the heart and for the sake of love and its mysterious mission. They reflect the humanness of now and our steps toward transcendence. His voice and performances have taken on a depth and substance that keeps on improving with age like a smooth\, earthy whiskey.  \n\n\n\nTickets €22 (inclusive of booking fee) — Doors open 7pm — Gig starts 8pm \n\n\n\n\nBOOK TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBandcamp\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n…A sound that recalls Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash along with the cynicism of grunge and punk.
