SUMMARY:Tom Barry
DESCRIPTION:BOOK TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Richmond Revival is delighted to announce the musical alchemist Tom Barry who will be returning to the place of his youth this April. \n\n\n\nBorn to a single mother and experiencing orphanage life as an infant\, Tom was adopted and raised in Tipperary. Music has always played a significant role in Tom’s life and became his refuge and his strength during his adolescent years and teens…a sanctuary from difficulties of life. \n\n\n\nTom is a past pupil of St Colmans College\, Fermoy\, where he boarded for 5 years. He joined the Defence Forces from St Colmans. As a cadet\, he trained in the Curragh Camp and was commissioned to border duty in Monaghan and Cavan pre-ceasefire as a young Lieutenant. Border duty was search and clearance and patrolling of border crossings until ceasefire was finally put in place in 1998. \n\n\n\nA Rock & Roll Soldier\n\n\n\nWhile serving in the forces\, he studied Civil Engineering in NUI Galway (then UCG) and went on to become a Commandant in the Engineering Corp. \n\n\n\nHe served in the army for 23 years\, part of that time in such countries as Liberia\, Kosovo\, and Afghanistan. In Afghanistan he was stationed in NATO HQ – his work included bridge building\, Humanitarian work\, camp maintenance and search/clearance of deadly mines. \n\n\n\nTom was a ‘rock and roll soldier’ and always found solace and inner peace in playing music\, once again providing a sanctuary.   \n\n\n\nInner Gold\n\n\n\nThese days he uses his music to articulate his struggles with mental health\, turning his music making into ‘inner gold’. This ‘inner gold’ is the conduit through which he reaches his audience. And this is evidenced in his highly acclaimed album ‘Lighthouse’\, released in 2022\, which Hotpress magazine rated as ‘an excellent record’. \n\n\n\nThis was followed by two single releases in 2024. ‘Like Share Scroll On’ is his commentary on the use of phones and our reaction to warnings of climate change…we like\, share\, and then scroll on. The second and current single ‘Passing of Time’ is a reflection triggered by memories of different stages in his life. \n\n\n\nTickets €16.50 (inclusive of booking fee) — Doors open 7pm — Gig starts 8pm \n\n\n\n\nBOOK TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBandcamp\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCancellations & Refunds: A minimum of 7 days notice ahead of the event date is required for refund requests. SUMMARY:Claude Bourbon — A Mid-Week Sessions Series Concert
DESCRIPTION:Claude Bourbon \n\n\n\nThursday April 4 @ 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM\n\n\n\n\nRESERVE YOUR PLACE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA MID-WEEK SESSIONS SERIES CONCERT \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIntroducing our new MID-WEEK SESSIONS SERIES CONCERTS. \n\n\n\nWe’re delighted to announce\, Claude Bourbon is helping us launch the first concert of our new series THE MID-WEEK SESSIONS. \n\n\n\nThe Mid-Week Sessions is a small\, select series of concerts that will be donation based rather than having a ticket cover charged. And as the name implies\, they’ll be mid-week evening events. \n\n\n\nHow it works\n\n\n\nOn the night\, we will be ‘passing a hat’ and you can contribute what you think is fair and can afford. This is something we’re trying out and we will need to see if it is viable. If it proves that it works\, then we aim to hold a limited number of concerts throughout the year for this series to start with\, and hopefully it’s something we can develop thereafter. \n\n\n\nPlease bear in mind\, the artists who will be participating in this series are established niche audience people and we hope that donations will at the very least cover their costs for coming to The Richmond Revival\, and at best\, that there’ll be enough good will from the audience such that their time and effort will be reflected through the donations also. \n\n\n\nThe only other thing we request/ recommend from you guys is that you pre-book your ticket online (which carries a €1 booking fee). This is because\, we’re a small venue with capacity for only a certain number of people. It makes everything a lot more straight forward if we know how many people to expect in advance and means we can manage people turning up on the night without creating hassle for anyone in the event we end up having more people than we can accommodate. If that happens\, the people who have committed to pre-booking will be given priority. So if you don’t mind\, we’d appreciate it if you could pre-book. \n\n\n\n\n\nClaude Bourbon\n\n\n\nAs part of his European tour\, another guitar virtuoso of a different kind enters the building! Claude’s style is summed up as progressive blues\, but the reality is\, you’ll hear a stunning acoustic fusion of blues\, jazz\, folk\, classical and Spanish guitar. \n\n\n\nHe moves from a classical opening with almost courteous music across the continent to the blues of the Mississippi Delta\, from the Balearic Islands to the Balkans\, and then back to the United States. Spanish blues evolve into Gypsy music\, which travels to Eastern Europe\, with a splash of Paco de Lucia\, then a touch of Delta tunes and more. Influences from Richie Blackmore\, Joaquin Rodrigo\, JJ Cale and even J. S. Bach speaks for themselves. Claude has impeccable timing and does things on six strings that will blow your mind. \n\n\n\nMr. Bourbon’s guitar fingering and arrangements are varied and eloquent.  He has the gift of brilliant sequencing and the result is a hypnotic voyage along a river of songs and instrumentals. He seamlessly flows between English and French lyrics\, taking you on a journey to other dimensions. \n\n\n\n\n“ Claude Bourbon aptly describes himself as a musical artist.  He uses a vast array of music tools to paint a landscape we have all visited either in person or in our dreams.” Mary Pat Cooney\, FolkWorks\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYoutube\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nRESERVE YOUR PLACE\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA MID-WEEK SESSIONS SERIES CONCERT \n\n\n\nDoors open 7pm — Gig starts 8pm \n\n\n\nPlease note: this event takes place on a Thursday. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCancellations & Refunds: A minimum of 7 days notice ahead of the event date is required for refund requests. Refunds cannot be guaranteed if the request is made with less than 7 days notice. If the event is cancelled by the organiser\, refunds will be issued automatically. \n\n\n\nPlease Note: The venue operates a pop up café which offers a range of liquid refreshments in exchange for CASH ONLY on the night. He’ll be joined by Aidan Killian on the night who’s no stranger to The Richmond Revival. \n\n\n\nPlease note: This will be a Thursday evening event. \n\n\n\nAbout David’s show\n\n\n\nAn unhelpful masterpiece for regaining integrity — learn how be an outsider\, own nothing\, be poor and hated — if nothing else\, you will have integrity. Having lived a life of burning bridges and telling everyone in authority to fuck off — this is McSavage’s area of expertise. \n\n\n\nTHE RULES: \n\n\n\n\n– When you’re young\, fail at everything.\n\n\n\n– Ensure people around you think you’re shit.
\n\n\n\n– Build up seething resentments towards these people for decades.
\n\n\n\n– Drink a lot.
\n\n\n\n– Use aforementioned resentments as motivation for creativity and drive.\n\n\n\n– Never become too successful.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAidan Killian\n\n\n\nAidan Killian returns to The Richmond Revival as David’s guest. Some of you will know Aidan from the last time he was here but for those who don’t\,he’s a spirited\, charismatic and passionate comedian who left a corporate banking job to save the world\, one endorphin at a time. \n\n\n\nHe has performed his unique comedy style for seven Edinburgh Fringe Festivals and was a ‘highlight’ at Glastonbury Festival 2016 and 2017. In 2017 he was nominated for Best Comedian at The World Fringe and has been sharing laughter on stages all over the world ever since. \n\n\n\nTickets €27.50 (inclusive of booking fee) — Doors open 7pm — Show starts 8pm \n\n\n\nPlease note: This event is happening on a Thursday. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBOOK TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInstagram\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYoutube\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease Note: The venue operates a pop up café which offers a range of liquid refreshments in exchange for CASH ONLY on the night. SUMMARY:Willy Mason and The Alpha Gals
DESCRIPTION:BOOK TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis November\, American singer/songwriters Willy Mason and The Alpha Gals will be joining us at The Richmond Revival. \n\n\n\nWilly is embarking on a small Irish tour ahead of his new album launch in 2025 and we are one of only a very few venues who have been blessed to have this trio perform. So while we can’t claim an exclusive\, it’s not far from it. \n\n\n\nAn Americana Trio\n\n\n\nHailing from Martha’s Vineyard\, Massachusetts\, Lexie Roth and Willy Mason have been singing together for decades. Jessie Pinnick entered the scene last year\, and The Alpha Gals were formed. With a mix of covers and originals from all three songwriters\, their sound is a blend of new and old classic Americana music with a hint of Bluegrass. In other words\, expect amazing music\, gut wrenching guitar\, and heavenly harmonies. \n\n\n\nLyrics from the soul\n\n\n\nIt’s been said that as a songwriter\, Willy Mason’s style has become harder to define as the years go on. Often outside of time musically\, his lyrics always come from the heart and for the sake of love and its mysterious mission. They reflect the humanness of now and our steps toward transcendence. His voice and performances have taken on a depth and substance that keeps on improving with age like a smooth\, earthy whiskey.  \n\n\n\nTickets €22 (inclusive of booking fee) — Doors open 7pm — Gig starts 8pm \n\n\n\n\nBOOK TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBandcamp\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n…A sound that recalls Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash along with the cynicism of grunge and punk. SUMMARY:Jack O Rourke
DESCRIPTION:BOOK TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUnfortunately\, this gig has been cancelled. The following is a personal message from Jack: \n\n\n\nJack O Rourke Gig Cancelled \n\n\n\nFrom Jack…. \n\n\n\nHello all\, \n\n\n\nUnfortunately due to personal circumstances my upcoming shows are cancelled. \n\n\n\nApologies to all who had purchased tickets and thank you for your understanding. \n\n\n\nThank you to all the venues and promoters for their help and understanding on this while I take a bit of a break! \n\n\n\nAll ticket holders will be contacted directly by the venues. \n\n\n\nMuch love and see you on down the road \n\n\n\n\n“Easily one of the year’s best albums” Irish Times\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nWild Place is Jack’s first release since 2019’s Ivory Towers and the first full album release since his acclaimed debut\, Dreamcatcher\, which entered the Irish Top 5. In the intervening years Jack has established himself as one of Ireland’s finest songsmiths and a live favourite. \n\n\n\nFor the recording of Wild Place\, during lockdown\, Jack and his band based themselves in Triskel Christchurch in Cork and used the wonderful acoustics and Triskel’s grand piano to great effect. The results are probably Jack’s most endearing work to date – the songs emanating from a soulful and folk-inspired place. \n\n\n\nJack first came to prominence with his ode to misunderstood youth and growing up gay\, ‘Silence’\, became a torch song for the Irish Marriage Equality Referendum and won the Nashville Songwriting Competition (judges included Tom Waits and Bill Withers). \n\n\n\nChosen as a 2019 headliner for Other Voices\, Jack was featured prominently in the television series (most recently part of the Home special in December\, featuring himself. Loah\, Villagers and Denise Chaila) and his collaboration\, ‘New Day’ with electronic artist\, Kormac has nearly 500\,000 views for its award winning music video. \n\n\n\n“Wild Place has songs of love and loss\, beautiful misfits\, nature and wilderness\,” says Jack. “There’s freedom and rage in there too\, alongside questions on race\, friendship\, a still-Covid world\, giving the glad eye\, my dreams and sea swimming. The piano and vocal are centre\, but there are elements of folk\, roots\, blues\, Americana and chamber music.” There’s also a song\, ‘Strange Bird’ written about the last year and a half – a drone recording a town during lockdown and all we’ve lost and gained. It’s influenced hugely by John Prine – “When John Prine died during Covid\, it was a Bowie or Cohen or Prince moment – I was heartbroken without knowing him personally – his lyrics and his style meant so much\, and his songwriting always floored me. There’s a Steinbeck or Mark Twain quality – he says so much without being flowery.”Jack teamed up with members of Crash Ensemble\, Clare Sands\, Hugh Dillon and Aisling Fitzpatrick to record Wild Place\, with a live quality brought to the songs by Ber Quinn’s mixing. Jack’s long-standing drummer\, David Ryan\, produced the album\, despite not using drums on any of the tracks and it was mastered in Canada by Philip Shaw (Feist and Bon Iver). \n\n\n\nThe first four singles from Wild Place have received extensive airplay on the country’s airwaves and the tour has thus far\, sold out venues across the country. A captivating live performer\, Jack will bring the music of Wild Place to life doing what he loves best – seated at a piano with his band\, and sharing some of his moving and sublime songs with his audience. \n\n\n\nTickets €22 (inclusive of booking fee) — Doors open 7pm — Gig starts 8pm. Support act yet to be confirmed. \n\n\n\n\nBOOK TICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nBandcamp\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n“Wild Place is a wonderful record from an artist who has become one of Ireland’s most consistently fascinating singer-songwriters” – Irish Examiner \n\n\n\n“There’s a soaring\, magical quality to Jack O’Rourke’s Wild Place. There’s an almost cinematic feel to the album\, like a soundtrack to some classic Hollywood movie\, perhaps by Nora Ephron. Wild Place seals O’Rourke’s reputation as one of Ireland’s most gifted performers.” – Hotpress \n\n\n\n“Sparse\, well-spaced arrangements\, with lyrics of pathos and wit” – RTE Arena \n\n\n\n“Wild Place\, a suite of economical chamber-pop songs\, will linger long after the year is gone.” – Sunday Business Post \n\n\n\n“O’Rourke is a vocalist of rare distinction. The album’s essence is to be found on Sea Swimming – a track that’s redolent of the sort of standards that Paul Brady delivered early in his career.” – John Meagher\, The Irish Independent \n\n\n\n“With ‘Wild Place\, O’ Rourke has more than met expectations for his sophomore work which showcases his maturity as a creator of deeply moving\, lyrically ornate compositions” – John Loftus\, Golden Plec \n\n\n\n“Wild Place is expansive in breadth\, deep in introspection and lovely to the ear.” – Barry Egan\, Sunday Independent. \n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nSea Swimming — Nomination: Choice Prize Song of the Year \n\n\n\nPatsy Cline — Nomination: RTE Folk Song of the Year \n\n\n\n\n\nPlease Note: The venue operates a pop up café which offers a range of liquid refreshments in exchange for CASH ONLY on the night. SUMMARY:Sarah Buckley & Bróna Keogh
DESCRIPTION:Doors 7pm – Gig at 8pm; Tickets €18 + booking Fee \n\n\n\nUnfortunately\, and due to unforeseen circumstances\, we are sorry to announce this event has been cancelled. \n\n\n\nSarah Buckley is an emerging alt-folk artist from Cork\, Ireland. A unique and intriguing songwriter\, she gained immediate attention with the release of her debut single ‘You’ve Got Me’ (1.3 million radio impressions) and built on this success with her debut EP ‘Magic Powers’ in Feb 2023\, produced by Karl Odlum (David Kitt\, Gemma Hayes) followed by her sophomore EP ‘Wind Chimes’ in Oct 2023. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nInspired by the world class lyricism of Alex Turner\, the introspective songwriting of Matt Berninger and the uncompromising authenticity of Julia Jacklin – Sarah manages to avoid the trap of imitating her heroes; instead channels their influence into something rare and immediately compelling. \n\n\n\nHer story is not the oft-told tale of the 5 year old with a hairbrush for a mic and a lifelong dream. Music came later in Sarah’s life\, and that subtle difference stands her apart from many of her fellow artists. This is an adventure undertaken by a woman who found her voice in life first\, before bringing it to song. \n\n\n\nWith each release Sarah continues to hone her sound and develop her musical expression\, further solidifying her position as an act to watch out for on the alt-folk scene. \n\n\n\nBróna Keogh \n\n\n\nBróna Keogh is a soulful\, indie folk singer from Dublin. \n\n\n\nShe draws inspiration from folklore\, pop culture\, r&b\, neo-soul\, americana\, jazz\, blues and the magic of the natural world.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n‘I find folk\, jazz and blues music transcendent\, pulling me into hypnotic spaces that resonate in curious ways’  \n\n\n\nWatch Latest Release ‘Nature Boy’ YouTube \n\n\n\nHoning her stage craft with performances supporting some of Ireland’s most exciting new artists including Pillow Queens\, Niamh Reagan\, Dani Larkin\, Cormac Looby\, Caoi de Barra\, Wyvern Lingo\, and D. Cullen as well as international artists Nadia Reid and Gravedancer to name a few. \n\n\n\nWatch ‘Sea Witch’ YouTube \n\n\n\nStream Love is Just a Muse by Bróna Keogh \n\n\n\nWith her current and former project Gypsy Rebel Rabble she has graced the stages at Electric Picnic\, Body and Soul\, Tradfest\, KnockanStockan\, Boomtown Fair\, SixmileBridge Winter Music Festival\, Ealú le Grá and Kilkenny Rhythm and Roots.

SUMMARY:Polly Barrett
DESCRIPTION:Polly Barrett is a well-known name on the Irish folk scene. After releasing two albums\, 2011’s Mr Bookshop and Probably Me in 2014\, she took a break from music to focus on family. SUMMARY:Shlomo Franklin • EVENT CANCELLED
DESCRIPTION:Shlomo Franklin is an American singer/songwriter born on a small cattle farm in upstate New York. Raised off grid\, without television\, music\, or radio\, his songs are strongly influenced by his cult-like upbringing. Shlomo released his debut album in 2019 which was produced by Grammy Award winner C Lanzbom and is set to release a follow up from his now Nashville\, TN base. Franklin has opened up for Jakob Dylan and The Wallflowers and shared festivals with his friends The Nude Party and The Bones of JR Jones. His songs seem just as comfortable in front of a crowd of two thousand as they are in a living room setting. Shlomo sees himself as a bare bones troubadour and is stubbornly trendless. \n\n\n\nScroll Down for Tickets \n\n\n\nPlease note:The venue operates a pop-up café which offers a range of liquid refreshments in exchange for CASH ONLY on the night. The Richmond Revival is in the centre of Fermoy and is accessible via Bus Éireann.
