John Robb – SOLD OUT
Saturday September 14 @ 4:15 PM – 7:00 PM
John Robb, musician, journalist, author and founding member of The Membranes, brings his spoken word tour ‘Do You Believe in the Power of Rock & Roll’ to Fermoy this September.
This will be an afternoon performance with doors open at 4.15pm. This is due to a clash with another event being held in Fermoy, so John kindly helped us to work around things by switching from an evening to an afternoon performance.
The other good news is, this event is sponsored by Bunker Vinyl on Camden Place, which means Free Admission, other than a €1.00 booking fee. To reserve your place, you’ll need to book the ticket even though it’s free admission so please remember to do this. Take note to be at the venue by 4:30pm or your ticket may be forfeited.
About the event
There will be two parts to the show. In part one, John will take us through life in music from the late 1970s when he was first caught up in punk’s high-octane thrill, through the early days of the rave scene, the birth of electronic and techno, and myriad bands that spun off on their own idiosyncratic paths, to the present day.
John’s story is packed with anecdotes, from being the first person to interview Nirvana and coining the phrase ‘Britpop’ to his adventures on the post-punk front-line and more—including his published works such as the celebrated The Art Of Darkness/The History Of Goth.
Part two will see John in conversation with special guests Elvera Butler (Downtown Kampus/Reekus Records) and John Perry (The Only Ones) where they’ll be discussing their unique journeys in the music world.
Tickets: FREE ADMISSION (just book a ticket to ensure you’ve got a spot reserved, which will mean a €1.00 booking fee) — Doors open 4.15pm — Show starts 5pm and should be completed by 7pm
Our sincere thanks to Bunker Vinyl and Louder than War for making this event happen.
